A Speech and Language Evaluation is a comprehensive "study" of a child's abilities.
Service Description
A Speech and Language Assessment is necessary in order to determine whether or not services are recommended, and if so, what type and level of services are recommended. The assessment looks at the following areas: Articulation - the production of speech sounds Receptive Language - the understanding of words and sentences and the meaning of language Expressive Language - being able to put thoughts into words and sentences in a way that makes sense and is grammatically accurate Fluency - the rhythm, flow, and smoothness of speech Voice - the quality, pitch, and loudness of one's voice Pragmatic Language - the social language we use in our interactions with others including what we say, how we say it, our non-verbal communication (eye contact, facial expressions, body language, etc.) and how appropriate our interactions are in a given situation
